PAVOL
BAUER
I turn messy data into structure — embedding, clustering and machine learning. Agentic Engineering by day, having fun with AI by night.
Structure in noise, from neurons to observability.
Principal Data Scientist at Dynatrace, where I work on agentic analytics at scale. Before that: T-Systems, the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology (LIN Magdeburg), the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE Bonn), and a PhD in scientific computing at Uppsala University. My through-line is the same everywhere — pull interpretable structure out of high-dimensional, noisy signals.
Research code & open source.
A few repositories I keep coming back to — from animal-behavior embedding to stochastic simulation on unstructured meshes.

VAME
★ 201Variational Animal Motion Embedding — a toolbox for embedding and clustering animal-behavior time series into discrete motifs.
Open repository →
URDME
★ 30Stochastic reaction–diffusion simulation on unstructured meshes — a framework for spatial stochastic modeling in systems biology.
Open repository →nsga2
★ 3A clean implementation of the Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGA-II) for multi-objective optimization.
Open repository →ix_kubeflow_tutorial
Companion code for my iX magazine tutorial on Kubeflow — building reproducible ML pipelines on Kubernetes.
Open repository →
lgca
★ 1A MATLAB/CUDA simulation of infectious contacts using a Lattice Gas Cellular Automaton — epidemiology on the GPU.
Open repository →colibri-qlora
Run GLM-5.2 — a 744B-parameter MoE — on a single Apple Silicon Mac by streaming experts from NVMe, in pure C. This fork adds a memory-bounded QLoRA/SFT training path.
Open repository →The AI playground.
Small, playable AI experiments that live right here on this domain — open them on a device with a camera and jump in. No install.
🎸 Air Hendrix
Point your camera, play air guitar for real. Hand-tracking maps every move onto the E-minor pentatonic — so you literally can't hit a wrong note. Fuzz, wah, delay and reverb included.
Plug in →🌍 City Explorer
A geography quiz for 1–4 players: find cities on the map and get scored by how close you land. Pick a continent, a difficulty, satellite or standard view — then race for the shortest distance.
Start exploring →🕺 MOTEM
Whole-body motion embedding, live in the browser. Your webcam pose becomes a 16-D motion-VAE latent on a shared 2D map — click the map to replay the movement as a stick figure. A browser cousin of VAME, nothing leaves your device.
